Halloween spoken word at Tap Gallery

I performed two of my spoken word pieces as part of the closing night for the Halloween group show at the Tap Gallery.

I’ve been on a journey of transformation. A journey to birth a new me, own my identity, rewrite my mental health and reclaim my sexuality. As part of this process, I write murder poetry to kill off the demons in my head, retrain my brain and integrate change. It is raw, powerful and wild. Through my spoken word performances, I take the audience on a journey to meet and connect with the dark feminine, inviting women and men to rediscover and reclaim their passion, spirit, identity, belonging and power.

The first piece is called Dreams of Revenge and is a reckoning with recurring childhood demons and a rewriting of embedded, intergenerational trauma.

The second piece is called The Devil Dances In Me. It is a modern rewriting of a 19th century story that parallels my own transformative journey over a 2 year period, as I reinvented myself through menopause and the breakdown of my 27 year marriage. It is a complementary piece to my illustration and collage series of the same name.
