About Bea
Maker of magical things. Bringing a little weird into the world and helping others find and express their weird.
I am a multi-disciplinary artist, maker, poet, storyteller, photographer and designer whose practice spans painting, installation, assemblage, kinetic sculpture, mixed media and junk metal art, spoken word, music, and live performance.
My work is concept-driven and takes many forms: painting, mixed media, installation, kinetic sculpture, junk metal art, music and performance. Often, my larger pieces transform waste into art — reclaiming discarded materials to spark imagination and new ways of seeing.
I’m the ARTery lead and run a theme camp called Miss Peaches at several Australian regional Burning Man events in Australia, where creativity is collective, messy, and alive.
In my professional life, I have over 20 years’ professional experience in human-centred design and innovation, and have led creative programs and collaborative initiatives for organisations including eHealth NSW, icare, Transport for NSW, Bendigo Bank, Fairfax, the ABC and Telstra. I am currently the CX Design Principal for eHealth NSW.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple drive: to encourage people to explore their own self-expression, to play without fear, and to co-create art, space, and performance in bold and unexpected ways.
Participatory art leads to participatory lives
My practice is built around four main principles:

Permission
Making accessible, fun art that has a connective function, provides a voice for everyone and welcomes people to create, share ideas and build community.

Collaboration
Bringing people together and using creative design thinking to inspire asking questions, thinking differently, imagining better and making change.

Participation
Making engaging art designed to be touched, handled and moved through in a public arena and that invites a collaborative response from an audience.

Experience
Creating unexpected delightful experiences and imaginative, playful spaces for people to discover, explore and enjoy.
Through my work, I am to minimise waste and environmental impact. Wherever possible, materials used in creating my art projects are found, recycled, upcycled and reused.
