Now is the Summer of our DiscoTent

A Shakesperean-inspired temporary bawdy nightclub

A playful collision of Elizabethan theatre and festival mischief, Now is the Summer of our DiscoTent reimagines the Globe as a bawdy, dust‑covered nightclub where Shakespeare’s spirit arrives wearing sequins and a cheeky grin.

  • The Globe facade by night, Burning Seed

  • Scale model for the Globe

Originally created for Wild Yam’s A Midsummer Night’s Yam in 2022, the façade was a temporary gateway to the Miss Peaches theme camp — an invitation to step through velvet curtains into a world where Bogan Shakespeare, masquerade balls, and late‑night revelry unfold under the watchful eye of Will Shakespeare herself (aka Legs 11:11).

The structure began as a scale model, built to test proportions and the practical realities of festival life. From that prototype grew a modular, pack‑flat “kit” designed for rapid onsite assembly and a true leave‑no‑trace ethos.

In 2023, support from BOSS enabled the next evolution of the concept, expanding both its artistic ambition and its capacity to transform a simple patch of paddock into a theatrical celebration of community, humour and creative play.
