Messages From Within

Messages from within is an intimate reliquary of identity—an old vessel repurposed to hold a new story.

  • The shadow monster and the Tiger

Inside its wooden frame, a three-part diorama traces the long arc of healing:

  1. the frightened child facing the corner, a shadow monster behind her
  2. the adult self returning to comfort the inner child
  3. and finally the woman walking beside the once‑terrifying tiger, the manifestation of the monster and the shadow self, now a companion rather than a threat.

The box becomes a stage where the soul and the self meet, revealing how early messages – spoken, implied or inherited – shape the narratives we carry. Its exterior murals echo those internalised voices: the warning not to disturb the waters, the ache of love tangled with harm, the anatomical heart blazing like a circus light announcing the truth at the centre of everything.

At the back, a mirror reflects both the viewer and the inscription: What you bring forth will save you. What you do not bring forth will destroy you.

Messages from within invites us to witness the courage required to bring forth what was once buried, to reintegrate the shadow, and to rewrite the story of who we are. It is a meditation on transformation – on reclaiming the narrative, befriending the monster, and becoming whole.
